We race offshore and make passages for the sheer joy of it. The rewards of an open ocean race are personal much more than anything else. Very few people would find racing on the open ocean “fun”. For whatever reason we do. Make no mistake, life on the ocean is hard. You’ll feel seasick, cold, hot, tired, wet and occasionally scared, sometimes all in one day. More importantly you’ll feel a sense of freedom. A freedom deep down to your core that is unmatched in any other endeavor either of us has undertaken. The thrill of facing a challenge that few dare and proving to yourself that you’re up for it with nothing but your skill at using the wind to propel you to your destination ... sailing.
You’ll notice that one of the coolest things about ocean racing is that all clothing fashion requirements are
thrown overboard in search of clothing that meets the following criteria:
1)Warm or Cool depending on your current latitude
2)The least smelly
3)The most dry
